Services for Tanner Lee Underwood, 17, of White Oak will be held at 4 pm, Monday, May 23, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church in Longview with Dan Noll and Michael Hiem officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Tanner was born June 4, 1987 in Longview and he died on Saturday, May 21, 2005. Tanner was a senior at White Oak High School. He was an accomplished athlete and scholar. Tanner was a 3 year member of the National Honor Society, and in the "Who's Who of American Students" for 4 years. He had perfect attendance for 13 years. During high school, he played football, baseball, golf, cross-country track, and power-lifting. As a freshman, Tanner was a regional qualifier in cross-country. As a senior, he received football All-District honors, and the Academic All-State Award. He was also a member of Mobberly Baptist Church. Tanner was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doyle Lowe. He is survived by his parents, Garland and Mary Underwood; and his sister, Ashley. Grandparents are C.W. Underwood, Jr., Dorothy Underwood, and Malcolm Lowe. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Pat & Carol Kinsey, Donny Underwood, Lester & Sue Underwood, Teresa Ward, Michael & Linda Duhon, Tommy & Samantha Lowe, and Guy Lowe. Tanner was also loved greatly by all of his family, including his 12 cousins, and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to set up a scholarship fund in Tanner?s memory. Donations may be sent to: Tanner?s Scholarship Fund, 1809 W. Loop 281, Ste. 100-134, Longview, Texas 75604.
