Tami was born in Colorado Springs two months premature and remained in the hospital for a few months. Her coming home dress was a pink doll dress which she still had and will be buried with her. Growing up Tami was a loving daughter, great big sister, and a loving child to all who knew her. She loved her family. She was the oldest granddaughter on the Thibodeaux side. In high school Tami was a good student and participated on the Swim Team, and she graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview in 1995. After high school she joined the Navy at 18.
Tami served in the US Navy for 14 years on both active duty and in the reserves where she was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal, Navy Good conduct service Medal 3 citations, National Defense Medal, Recruiter of the year and Aviation recruiter of the year. As an Aviation Storekeeper stationed out of Mayport, Florida, she deployed on the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) where she procured and issued aircraft parts to the squadrons on the ship to keep aircraft flight ready.
She met her husband Robert in Oak Harbor, Washington while both were stationed on Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. They were introduced to one another through mutual friends and began dating. After dating for a year, the 2 decided to get married and were wed on Veterans Day, November 11, 2004. They spent the next few years between duty stations supporting one another’s careers and spending time with family and friends.
Tami and Robert were blessed with their son Garrett on August 6, 2006. Tami separated from the Navy shortly after Garrett was born to be a stay-at-home mom. A few weeks after she separated, they joined Robert in Jacksonville, Florida where they lived for the next 12 years. They spent the years making memories by going camping, enjoying baseball and football games.
In 2019 Tami learned she had a newfound passion in her life, spending time with her family in the Caribbean. Robert and Tami spent their first trip to Jamica in Negril enjoying the white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters. They returned the next few years after that with Garrett and made hundreds of memories every time they went. Their family decided they wanted to try something new and began going on cruises. They were able to visit many new and exciting places, such as Mexico, Belize, Honduras, St Lucia and Grand Caymen to name a few.
Tami was very dedicated to her family and friends and would do anything to help another. She always put her feelings and wants second to her family. She had huge heart and loved unconditionally. She was a loving person and will be deeply missed.
