Sylvia A. Trussell's Obituary
Sylvia Ann Thomas Trussell, age 79, passed away Sunday morning August 21, 2016. She was born August 11, 1937 in Gilmer, Texas to John Lewis and Dorothy Cain Thomas. Sylvia graduated from Judson High School and East State Teachers College. She retired 2002 from LISD after 39 years of teaching first and fourth grades at Bramlett, Mozell Johnston, and Doris McQueen. She had been a teacher of the year nominee for school year 1980-81. She had also taught in Odessa and Grand Prarie.
She is survived by her son Britt M. Trussell, daughter Hollie Trussell Canter and husband Forest both of Longview. Also surviving Sylvia are two grandchildren, Ah-Leah Wages Moneypenny and husband Shenan, Kassidy Windham and wife Stephanie and three great-grandchildren, Brenya Moneypenny, Caden and Tyler Windham, also two sisters, Shirley Thomas Stauss of Longview, Sue Thomas Brown and husband Raymond of Madill, OK, and aunt Una Andrews of Corpus Christi and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty three years, Hollis Trussell, her step-dad Wilson F. Henderson, Hollis’ parents and numerous Aunts and uncles as well as grandparents.
Sylvia was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church for twenty six years.
The viewing for Sylvia will be Tuesday, August 23 from 6-8pm at Rader Funeral Home of Longview TX. Funeral Services will be at Woodland Hills Baptist Church Wednesday, August 24, at 10am.
