Sybil Murrell Main's Obituary
Services for Sybil Murrell Main, 70, of Longview, Texas will be held at 12 Noon on November 21, 2002 at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. with Pastor David Cook officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at the Palo Alto Cemetery in Jonesville, Louisiana on the following day. Visitation will be from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 20, 2002. Mrs. Main died at 3 AM on November 19, 2002 at Longview Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Main was born on June 11, 1932 to John F. and Bertha White Murrell. She married Joseph C. Main on April 11, 1952. Sybil received her bachelors degree of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute. Later, she received her Master's degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Mrs. Main spent several years teaching piano lesesons as well as working 20 years as a public schoolt teacher. She retired from Pine Tree Schools in May of 1990. Sybil was a member of Pine Crest Bible Church of Longview, Texas. She was a member of numerous civic and professional organizations.
Sybil is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph C. Main of Longview, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Anne-Marie and Bryan Duffy of San Antonio, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Lowell and Brenda Main of Mineola, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robert, Hannah, Joseph, Samuel, Noah, Valerie, and Julia Main; two sisters, Melba Hayes of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Reba Ingram of Pineville, Louisiana; one brother and his wife, James and Debbie Murrell of Grant's Pass, Oregon and various aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
