Sue Newsom
Sue Newsom was born in Leola, Arkansas on July 29, 1926 to Carl and Esther Johnston and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 30, 2016.
Sue was a 50 year member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and cared for children there for over 30 years. She will be remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who loved her Lord Jesus. She loved her family deeply and treasured time spent with them. Sue was dedicated to her church and family and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Newsom; brother, Carl Johnston, Jr.; sister-in-law, Millie Johnston; and sister, Jesse Rollins.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bobbye Mitchell and husband Freddy; son Jim Newsom and wife Pamie; grandchildren, Clint Hill and wife Rachel; Emily Jackson and husband Mike; and Abby Grace Newsom; great grandchildren, Brooks Lane Hill and Kerigan Elise Hill; brothers, Bob Johnston and wife Pat of Texarkana; Ben Johnston and wife Sherilyn of Longview; Doug Johnston and wife Becky of Tyler; and Phillip Johnston and wife Jane of New York; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Memory Park. Burial will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff, employees and her friends at Brookdale for taking such good care of their Mother.
