Sue Clovis Conaway's Obituary
Sue Clovis Conaway, 61, of Longview, formerly of Kingsport, TN, passed away peacefully from this life on Friday, June 17, 2016, at her home in Longview surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Monday, June 20, 2016 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Marshall Coffey officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. A visitation and graveside service will be held later in the week in Knoxville, TN under the direction of Stevens Mortuary.
Sue was born on June 15, 1955 in Parkersburg, WV to William E. (Bill) and Evie Roberts Clovis. She graduated from St. Marys High School in St. Marys, WV in 1973 and attended Ohio Valley University in Parkersburg, WV and Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX. She was married to the love of her life, Randall Conaway on January 1, 1977. Together they lived and raised a family in Kingsport, TN for 34 years before moving to Longview 4 years ago. Mrs. Conaway was a very selfless, generous and life giving woman who loved helping and serving others. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ both in Kingsport and Longview, and was an active member of both communities. She found great joy in helping at her children’s elementary schools and eventually enjoyed working as a teacher’s aid. Above all else, Sue loved being a wife and mom, and did so with all of her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, William E (Bill) Clovis, II; her father-in-law, Thomas Conaway and her mother-in-law, Mabel Conaway; and two brothers-in-law, Steve Conaway and Jeff Conaway.
Those left to cherish Sue’s memory and carry her legacy are her husband, Randall Conaway; her children and their spouses, Sarah and Michael Camponovo, Ben and Molly Conaway, and Sam Conaway; her mother, Evie Clovis; her siblings and their spouses, Angela Clovis Estes and her husband Johnny, Annette Clovis Boyles and her husband Kenneth, Roberta Clovis Giles and her husband Efton, Teresa Conaway Kuntz and her husband Mark, and Peggy Conaway, wife of Steve.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in memory of Sue to Alpine Church of Christ, 610 E. Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75605; or to the Zambia Medical Missin Fund in memory of Sue, PO Box 3393, Abilene, TX, 79604-3393.
