Stoy Len Wooster Jr.'s Obituary
A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Longview, Texas for Mr. Stoy L. Wooster Jr., 82 of Longview, Texas formerly of Mesquite, Texas followed by graveside @ Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. Mr. Wooster passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 in Longview. Stoy was born in Houston, Texas to Stoy L. Wooster Sr. and Alice Knight Wooster. He attended Milby High School in Houston. He also attended Rice University for a short time. Mr. Wooster married Marie L. Bernard Wooster on November 27, 1955 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He joined the U.S.A.F. in 1954 and retired from the service in 1974. While in the service Stoy and his wife Lea moved to many places including Del Rio, Texas; Chandler, Arizona; Denver Colorado; Travis AFB, California; Marysville, Bealle AFB; Mojave, Edwards AFB home of the X-15 testing flights; Marquette, Michigan, K.I. Sawyer AFB; Little Rock AFB; Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Kinchloe AFB and retired after 20 years where he had a job waiting in Longview, Texas at the Telephone Company. While working for American Telephone & Telegraph he lived in Longview then transferred to La Mesa, Texas for a short while and quickly moved to Mesquite, Texas working for AT&T for 20 years and retired the day after his grandaughters birth in 1994. He was a member of the Lions Club International, Toastmasters and, the Friends of the Library in Mesquite, Texas. Stoy was involved heavily in volunteer work for the church, visiting the nursing homes, hospitals, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, social committee, youth group, and he even was a substitute teacher once @ St. Phillip's Catholic School. He slowed some and enjoyed the senior lunches and senior group meetings. He belonged to the Order of the Alhambra Dar Ruse Caravan as an officer and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and also was a 4th degree Knight.
Mr. Wooster was preceded in death by his father Stoy L. Wooster Sr., mother Alice K. Wooster, brother Milton J. Wooster, and loving wife of 55 years Marie L. Wooster. He is survived by daughter Alicia L. O'Connor, son-in-law Chris O'Connor and granddaughter Valerie O'Connor, sister-in-law Joann Menard, several nieces, nephews, and many friends both near and far.
