Steven Thompson's Obituary
Steven Ross Thompson, the son of Jackie Carlson Thompson and Kevin M. Thompson, was born February 6, 1984 in Longview, TX and went to his heavenly reward on July 8, 2018 in Denton, TX. Steven was always such a sweet little boy who grew to be a kind-hearted, loving and generous man. He was a true, loyal friend and confidant who was always ready to listen if you needed him. Steven was the “real deal” always willing to go the extra mile for those who might need him.
Steven studied Psychology at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. While a student there he took a job as a dishwasher. Little did he know he would find his life’s calling in a university kitchen. Steven applied himself to washing dishes just as he did to everything in his life. He was going to be the best dishwasher he could possibly be. His dedication and hard work was not unnoticed. Over the years he worked his way from dishwasher to Garde Manger Chef, or Cold Food Chef for the campus. He was mentored along the way by those who saw the promise he held. In turn, Steven was a mentor to those working with him. His food was beautiful, healthy and delicious. A real treat for anyone fortunate enough to partake of his delights. He was in his element preparing and serving food.
Steven is survived by his parents Jackie and Kevin Thompson, sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Michael South,
niece Kenna South. His grandmothers, Maxine Carlson and Barbara Thompson, aunt Coleen Peterson, aunts and uncles Dainey and Marc Sydow, Diana and Rob Wycoff, cousins, Paul Peterson (Dawn), Rachel and Shannon Sydow, Robert (Emily)Wycoff and Carsen Wycoff. Steven loved his family and shared many special times with them.
Steven loved coming home to spend time at his parent’s country home where he helped complete many projects over the years. He was at home always in his East Texas Piney Woods.
A time of visitation with family and friends is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Rader Funeral Home. A service to honor Steven’s life and memory will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, TX. with the Rev. Dr. Rita Sims officiating. Internment will be immediately following the service at Rosewood Park Cemetery, Longview, TX.
Pallbearers are lifelong friends Matt Turner, NickNorthern, Brian Monholland, Ben Weaver, John Wilcox, Justin Ford.
