Cryptside services for Steven Ray Phillips will be Thursday, May 21st at 2:00 at Lakeview Memorial Mausoleum under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 on Wednesday, May 20th at Rader Funeral Home.
Steven was born on September 4, 1959 in Sulphur Springs to Sandra and Walter Phillips. He passed away on May 16, 2009 in Gregg County. He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Phillips and grandparents, Jim and Bea Martin, and
L. A. and Allie Phillips. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sandra and Roy Carnes of Longview, a brother, James Phillips and wife, Janie of Longview, nieces Cristi Phillips of Dallas and Britni Banda and husband Blake, of Longview. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Steven graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1979 where he was involved in football and track. He was a machinist by trade and worked for United Machine Shop in Kilgore. He was a member of Greggton Church of Christ.
Steven had a beautiful zest for life and never met a stranger. He had a heart for those in need and always opened his home to those needing a place to stay. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as fast cars and motorcycles. In lieu of flowers, Steven would be honored by donations made to the Hi-Way 80 Rescue Mission in his memory.
