Steven was born October 2, 1975 in Corpus Christi, TX. Steve was many things in his life but none more so than a very loving husband and father, well known business owner of “Hawg Pen” repairing motorcycles with good ol’ boy practices and family friendly service. He is survived by his wife Ellen Ullrich of Hallsville; four children Dylan, Sue, Megan and Tyler; his mother Cookie Ullrich of Brownsville, TX; as well as one brother Richard Ullrich and family of Brownsville; his mother and father-in-law Bruce and Charlotte Greely of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters-in-law Stephanie Ellis and family of Hallsville and Lisa Ruffin and family of Las Vegas.
He is preceded in death by his father Mike Ullrich and his Uncle Case.
In belief of Steve’s word now…
I hope this doesn’t reach you to late,
Life up here is truly great,
A cup of ice and a bottle of Jack,
As I crossed through those pearly gates.
I can’t wait for you to see the beauty of Heaven,
But I know it’s not your time,
I really miss you guys,
But I know you’ll be just fine.
You know I can see you right,
So please stop shedding tears,
You guys I’m perfectly fine,
So conquer all your fears.
I need you to come here to meet me,
But not if you misbehave,
So please keep God in your heart,
And you’ll be safe and saved.
I know y’all miss me,
I really miss y’all too.
But please please stop grieving,
Because you’re making me sad too.
You guys have been a great family,
And I was truly blessed,
You’ve all guided me through my earthly life.
Now God will do the rest.
He’s really a great person,
And even better friend,
So I’m in great hands,
And on him you can also depend.
OH BOY, I’m getting carried away.
I want to say so many things,
But I really have to go now.
Because today I’m riding with my “DAD”
To go and get my wings.
Steven Ullrich was the type of guy that personified rough on the outside but soft and sweet on the inside. He was an incredible son, brother, husband and father. He was also an incredible friend. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I know that because he gave me his shirt on a couple of different occasions. He and his wife Ellen made a team that conquered every single obstacle in their way. He was a rough and tumble guy who worked hard, played hard and loved hard. If he considered you “his”, there is nothing that he wouldn’t do for you. His love of motorcycles and the Boxer breed were infamous among friends and family. The love and adoration he had for his Ellen was a tangible thing. When it came to Ellen, he melted. He repeatedly admitted to being “whipped” for his wife. He was the definition of a strong, kind, loving and honorable man. Steve and Ellen loved nothing more than to have their family and friends at their house with a bonfire in the back yard while Steve manned the grill. They had an amazing love of life and were determined to share that love with everyone. Then something happened that no one ever thought would happen. Not to Steve. Not to Ellen’s Steve.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 2 pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. A candlelight Vigil will be held Sat 18th at 7 pm at the Hallsville Park.
