A graveside memorial service celebrating the life of Steve Adams, with Rev. Doug Wintermute of Greggton United Methodist Church officiating, will be held under the direction of Rader Funeral Home at the Mausoleum Chapel in Rosewood Park Cemetery at 4PM on Saturday June 19, 2010. James Stephen "Steve" Adams passed away Wednesday June 16, 2010 in Longview, Texas after a two week battle with cancer. He was born January 25, 1942 in Center, Texas.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Robert Calvin Adams, Jr., mother Marie Harris, brother R. C. "Bob" Adams III, and sister-in-law, Melanie Tucker McNiel.
Steve grew up in Center and was quarterback for Center High School and was an outstanding member of the golf team. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.S. in business. He was an employee of E. F. Hutton in Longview after completing his stockbroker studies in New York.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Nancy for 44 years, loving father to his daughter Monica, and proud grandfather to his three grandsons Robbie, Reid and Rhett. He loved golf and fishing on Lone Star Lake and Lake of the Pines. He enjoyed telling stories about his travels during his teenage years with his family to Europe, Libya and Africa. An avid cook, Steve enjoyed creating new BBQ dishes for his family. And in his spare time would race up and down the loop in his new Mustang GT.
Steve was a member of the Greggton United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Tucker Adams of Pine Tree, daughter Monica Adams Robinson and husband Trey of Austin. Sister Teresa Tebow of Longview, sister-in-law Peggy Tucker Gatlin of Lake Cherokee, brother-in-law Jim Tucker of Longview, sister-in-law the late Melanie Tucker McNiel and husband Bruce of Diana, mother-in-law, Eva Russell Tucker of Longview, grandchildren Robbie Robinson, Reid Robinson, and Rhett Robinson of Austin, nieces Celeste Tebow of Longview, Alyssa McNiel of Houston, Caroline McNiel of Diana, nephews, Larry Adams and wife Connie of Kilgore, Brian McNiel and wife Carrie of Austin, and one grand-nephew Justin Adams of Kilgore and two grand-nieces Brooke and Megan McNiel of Austin. Two special friends and caregivers Terese "Amber" Hembrough and Barbara "Babs" Neagle.
