Stephen K. Sandlin's Obituary
Stephen Kinlaw Sandlin, age 70, of Longview, Tx .passed away suddenly on September 20, 2012. He was born January 4, 1942 in Washington, D.C. to Catherine and Hallie Robert Sandlin. Stephen proudly served his country for 20 years in the Air Force, moving all over the world on assignments. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for 10 years as a Director for Martin Marietta Corporation, retiring again at age 50.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Billie Jean and two sons, Ricky and Larry Gillem. Survivors include a son, Kerry Gillem, of Longview, a grandson Kristopher Gillem, a sister, Cathy Weyand and her husband Glenn, brother Robert Sandlin, brother Ben Sandlin and his wife Valerie- all of Jacksonville, Fl.; a son, John Jeffrey and his wife, Jean, of Virginia and a daughter, Monette Gouchenner and granddaughter, Jasmine of Montana.
Steve was blessed to have caring neighbors and friends, especially Steve and Kathy Steelman and the family is very grateful to them for their friendship to him, Steve also leaves behind his new best friend, "Trouble" the cat who misses him already.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday September 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Rosewood Park in Longview, TX under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow. Steve's brothers and sister say to our dear brother "rest in peace" as you are finally re-united with your loved ones.
