Stephen H. Carter's Obituary
Stephen H. Carter of White Oak, TX passed away on November 7, 2024. He was born on October 22, 1940, in Durant, OK. The family moved to Amarillo, TX where he graduated from Amarillo High School. He served in the US Marine Corps for 4 years.
In 1977 he moved to Longview, TX and was employed by Lone Star Steel for 9 years. Steve and Joann were married on April 8, 1983. In 1996 Steve and Jim Angus opened Great American Coil Inc. in White Oak, TX. Carl Parker, sales manager, later became a partner.
Steve enjoyed target shooting, bowling, skiing, cards and car races. Being an avid NASCAR fan, he and Joann enjoyed taking RV trips to several racetracks including Daytona and Bristol.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jessie and Hendley Carter, sister Gini Willard, and brother-in-law David Willard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Santi Carter, sisters Betty and Tom Frost, Katy and Mike Truitt, daughter Teresa Carter and Andres Gutiérrez, grandchildren Lorelei and Matthew Gutiérrez, nieces Ginger, Susan, and Mary Dae, fur babies Liesel and Cammie and special friends Tony and Lynn Barber.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. There will not be a funeral service, and burial will take place in LaPorte, TX at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions be made to the Longview Animal Adoption Center, Hwy 80 Rescue Mission, Wounded Warrior or the charity of your choice.
