Stella Marie Grammer's Obituary
Stella "Skeet" Grammer passed from this earthly life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 to be with her Lord in Heaven forevermore. She was born Stella Marie Mapes to Mr. & Mrs. Bryson Taylor Mapes in Longview on January 5, 1935. At a very early age she was given the nickname "Skeet" and she was known by that name her entire life.
She was a devout Christian and a lifetime member of the Church of Christ; and a current member of the Reel Rd. Church of Christ.
Stella grew up in Longview and attended Longview schools and later attended El Centre College in Dallas. She became very proficient in Oil Painting, Calligraphy, and Dress Making.
On October 10, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart Billy Ray Grammer. They had three sons: Gordon Ray Grammer, Daniel Stephen Grammer, and John Thomas Grammer. After Billy's discharge from the military, they spent the next thirty-four in Dallas.
Stella was preceded in death by both her parents, both of her sisters, and her only brother.
Stella is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Billy Ray Grammer, her sons Gordon Ray and wife Barbara, Danny and wife Janetta, and Tommy and wife Carolyn.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many close and loyal friends.
The family also wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent and tender love and care she received at the Havencare Nursing facility.
Funeral services for Stella will be in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM., with brother David Haley officiating. Visitation will be Monday September 24, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will follow in Winterfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Stephen Grammer, Scotty Grammer, Doug Grammer, Clint Grammer, and Chris Grammer, and grandson-n-law James Beatty.
