Stanley Foster Schug's Obituary
Stanley Foster Schug of Gladewater, Texas went to be with his Lord on January 31, 2019 after suffering a stroke.
A celebration of his life will be held at St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 4 pm.
Stan was born in Lake City, Iowa to Dale and Lois (Mack) Schug on June 6, 1949. He graduated from Wichita East High School and continued his education at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. He worked in the insurance industry for many years. He taught high school English, driver education, and has more recently worked as a motorcycle safety instructor.
He loved to laugh, tell jokes and share stories. He never met a stranger. He was an outdoorsman and he was passionate about spending time exploring and rejoicing in God’s creation. He was good with his hands and was always tinkering in the garage and around the house. He loved animals, sharing his home as a shelter and foster for Cat’s Meow Rescue since 2014.
Stan loved to smoke cigars and ride motorcycles. He joined the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) in 2004 and was a consistent volunteer at rallies in Sturgis, SD and Ruidoso, NM.
He was an active member of St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church where he was a member of the vestry for the last 3 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Schug of Gladewater; his daughter, Alaina Pompa and husband James and their 3 children of Bradenton, Florida; his son Cory Schug and wife Alisha of New York, New York; his son Richart Schug and fiancé Sydney Blackwell of Seattle, Washington; and his stepson Ahti Westphal and wife Michelle Butterfield of Minneapolis, MN.
