Sonya L. Pereira's Obituary
Sonya Ludene Craig Pereira went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She had a smile upon her face and a positive outlook for the entire journey. Sonya was an inspiration to all who met her.
Her career was being a nurse but she felt strongly that everyone understand that her calling in life was to be Manny’s wife and Hannah and Haley’s mother. Sonya is survived by husband Manny and her two precious daughters, Hannah and Haley, Sisters Shannon Hicks and husband Kenny of Maypearl and Sherry Scribner and husband Daniel of Irving as well as countless nieces, nephews and friends that she loved deeply. She was overjoyed in knowing that she would soon be joining two of her children lost late in pregnancy when she got to heaven and also be reunited with her parents Bill and Judy Craig along with many other beloved family members and friends.
Sonya was born on October 11th, 1973 in Dallas, Texas. She spent most of her childhood in Maypearl before moving to Andrews, Texas where she attended and graduated from high school. She attended Odessa College and obtained a degree in nursing. While working in the ICU in Lubbock, Texas she met the love of her life, Manny, and they married in 2003. After moving to Longview, Texas, Sonya worked as a nurse until they eagerly welcomed their two children, Hannah and Haley, to make their family complete. Sonya shared her love of music with her children and set a Godly example to them and everyone she met with her servant’s heart, positive attitude and love for her Lord. She felt drawn to be the leader of the Teen Life Group at her church where she made a lasting impression on the young people she worked with. She fought her battle with cancer with strength, dignity, grace and a positive attitude that was admired by anyone she encountered. If you knew her, you know how profoundly true this is. To say she will be missed is an understatement, but we can rejoice in the fact that she has spread her angel wings and is now singing and dancing in heaven jubilantly.
