Memorial services for Sidney Calvin Capshaw, Jr. , 75 of Longview will be held 2 PM Tuesday, December 2nd at the Longview Church of Christ, 1401 Eden Dr. with Robert Johnson and Benny Bristow officiating. Mr. Capshaw passed away November 29th at his home.
Mr. Capshaw retired from the Veterans Administration after 36 years of service as a career nurse. He held a Bachelor of Science Degree In Nursing from the University of Texas in Galveston and a Masters Degree in Nursing from Emory University , in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was born March 10, 1928 in Swearingen, Texas to Sidney Calvin Capshaw and Zelma Zellard Capshaw. Mr. Capshaw married June Ann Brisbin January 7, 1956. Mr. and Mrs. Capshaw have resided in Longview since October, 2000 moving here from Waco, Texas. Mr. Capshaw had a lifelong history of serving the Lord and continued his Christian walk unto his death. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed gardening and horticulture in retirement.
Survivors include his spouse, June Capshaw of Longview; his children: Sidney Calvin Capshaw, III of Longview and his wife , Bonnie; Ronald Craig Capshaw of Richmond, Virginia and his wife, Karen; Cathy Ann Farrow of Fayetteville, Arkansas and her husband, Dr. Bobby Farrow. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Hannah Capshaw, Amanda Capshaw, Josh Laman, and Mike Sellers. Mr. Capshaw is also survived by two brothers, Frank Capshaw of Boise, Idaho and G.B. Capshaw of Dallas, Texas.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Monday evening 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
