Shirley Ann Bennett-Mizell's Obituary
Shirley Bennett Mizell of Longview, TX passed away on May 1, 2018 at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a few days shy of 76 years old. Shirley was born in Atchison, KS on May 30,1942 to Thomas and Lorene Bennett. She was the second youngest of 11 children. She graduated High School from Atchison High school. Shirley was a dedicated and loving mother to her three daughters. She had a big heart and sacrificed a lot for her girls. She enjoyed sewing and would make their clothes, made sure they were enrolled in dance and gymnastics and loved them unconditionally. She loved her Lord and raised her girls in church. She had a love for gardening, swimming, and playing games with family and friends. She taught all three girls and most of her grandchildren how to swim and how to enjoy family games with lots of laughter around the table. Shirley was dedicated to her job and retired from the banking industry after 30 years. She was loved and admired by many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral home in Longview from 6-8 on Friday May 4, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at Trails End Cowboy Church Harrison County Hallsville, TX. on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 10am where Shirley has been a member for many years.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Mizell, both her parents, Lorene and Thomas Bennett, brothers, Almus Bennett, Leonard Bennett, Bonnie Loe Bennett, Vernon Bennett, Robert Wayne Bennett, Thomas Bennett, Frederick Bennett, sister, Thelma Hancock and her grandson Dillon Perry.
Shirley is survived by daughter Rebecca & Mark Ganong, daughter Sharon & Dennis Phillips, daughter Brenda & Kevin Gribble, sister Fay & Jimmy Hackler, Grandchildren Justin & Lindsay Vaughn, Taylor Ganong & finance Hilary Daniels, Connor & Joy Ganong, Amber & Patrick Kirkpatrick, Josh & Diana Phillips, Kasey & Corine Gribble, and Kalyn Gribble. She has 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
