There aren't enough words to describe my dear, beautiful cousin, Sherry. She was one year and seven months older than I but two grades ahead of me in school. Even during our childhood years, I wanted to do everything like Sherry. She was my role model, best friend, and the sister I never had. We spent weeks together during summers and Christmas holidays with our aunts and uncles and with our grandparents. As we grew older, she and I were always partners in crime--always thinking of something sneaky or crazy to do.
By the time we were in jr. high and high school, I was thrilled to get her hand-me-down clothes and formals. She always looked so pretty, and I wanted to look just like her. I tagged along with her to birthday parties, church parties, the "Y" dances, the Arlyne, and to The Point--and never once did she treat me like I was a fifth wheel with her and her friends. I always knew she loved me, and she always knew I loved her.
The precious memories we shared will always be part of me--to inspire me to keep going for the family as we have done for so many years. I will miss her encouraging words, her crazy sense of humor, her contagious laugh until we shed tears, and her understanding and always loving heart. I am so blessed and my life is so much fuller because of Sherry. I will miss her every day until we meet again in our heavenly home--never to separate again.
And to Jack: Always remember that you were the love of Sherry's life, and you gave her more happiness than you will ever know. Our family loves you so much and appreciates all you did for our precious Sherry. You and your family will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.
And to my dear, sweet Lou: My heart literally aches for you and for the sorrow you are feeling right now. You and "Tilley" are being held up in our prayers, and we know that only God can comfort you. We love you so much and as you and I have agreed, God will help us one day at a time. I will always be here when you need me.
Love,
Diane & Merritt
