Sherman Lawrence Tipton
Services and burial for Sherman Lawrence Tipton, 96, of Longview, Texas will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Pryor Chapel and Cemetery in Stuart, Oklahoma, with Rev. Gilbert Lawrence officiating. Arrangements are by Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home , Holdenville, Oklahoma. Mr. Tipton died March 7, 2006 at Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview, Texas.
Sherman Lawrence Tipton was born September 14, 1909 to Samuel and Arkie Tipton in Bee Branch, Arkansas. He was a retired Master Carpenter. He resided at Eden Place Retirement Center, and was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and the Prime Time Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his son Doin Reid Tipton and daughter-in-law, Barbara Tipton, daughter, Mona Lea Meinzer; Grand-children Carrie and Elvis Long, and Sharon & Harvey Henderson; Great-Grandchildren Amie, Andy, Michelle, and Michael; Great-Great Grandchildren Amber, Hallie and Sara. He is also survived by 4 of 11 siblings; sisters, Imogene Foster and brother-in-law, Clarence Foster, and Nadine Warrick; brothers, Charles Tipton and sister-in-law, Lorene Tipton, Wendell Tipton and sister-in-law, Leone Tipton; and many nieces, nephews, a host of friends and extended family.
Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Thomas Tipton, second wife, Helen Reid Tipton and Grand-daughters Anita Jenkins and Lisa Tipton.
Memorials may be made to the Mobberly Baptist Church Building Fund, 625 E. Loop 281 Longview, Texas 75605.
