Sheila Carlisle's Obituary
Sheila Renee Carlisle, age 62, of Hallsville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. Sheila was born October 18, 1961, in Longview, Texas, to Clyde Eugene Knight, Sr. and Betty Emma Price Knight.
Sheila was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. With a gift of hospitality and mercy, she established an “open pantry” policy for all her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She loved cooking for people and made sure everyone was always welcome at the table and had seconds. For 24 years, she was a teacher and then director of First Friends Preschool in Hallsville, Texas. She devoted her life to sharing the love of Jesus with countless children, modeling that love as she cared for them and those around her.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Betty Knight, and in-laws, Charles and Jean Carlisle.
She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Charles “Bubba” Carlisle; her children, Chas and Amy Carlisle, Chase and Julia Carlisle, and Katie and Chase Monts; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lana and Kim Bowen, Karen and Greg Kaster, and Lisa Knight; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Donna Knight; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tommy and Martha Sue Roberts. She was especially proud and blessed to be “Nanny” to her eight grandchildren, Emma, Charlie, Caleb, Levi, Emmett, Maverick, Lilah, and Joy. She will be missed by numerous other relatives, friends, and a great number of her First Friends family.
The family request that memorial donations be made to the First Friends Scholarship Fund in Mrs. Carlisle’s honor.
