Sharon Ann Long's Obituary
Sharon Long was born November 15, 1952 to Ted and Marian Austin in Corpus Christi, Texas. She married Stephen G. Long on May 3, 1974. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Long of Longview, Texas and by her mother, Marian Austin, of Ganado, Texas, and by her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Bill Harrison, of Edna Texas. She is also survived by two nephews, Paul and Dan Harrison, of Edna Texas, and her nieces, Rachel Harrison of West Rutland, Vermont, and Anna Beth Harrison of Wills Point, Texas. Her father, Ted L Austin, went to be with the Lord in 2003.
Mrs. Long worked as a commercial artist in Amarillo, Texas and in Longview, Texas. She worked as a teacher’s aide for Spring Hill schools, and she worked with her husband in his business for several years.
Sharon made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at the age of seven. Her pastor and her father made sure she understood what she was doing. All of her life she served in various capacities of each church in which she was a member. She taught children’s church for many years and she and her husband were worship and praise leaders at a church in Amarillo. They led people to Christ and started a new church in Amarillo, which merged with another church soon before they felt called to move to Longview. When they first moved to Longview in 1987, they became youth group leaders. Sharon has always helped and supported Steve in his teaching ministry and both of them have gone on mission trips and been very active in the prayer ministry.
Sharon continued to serve the Lord until her health failed. She peacefully passed on to heaven on September 4, 2017 in her sleep, without any pain, pain medication, or any other type of medication.
