Funeral services for Shannon Renea Birchfield, 38, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Trinity Baptist Church, Lakeport with Dr. Gary Orr and the Reverend Ross Law officiating. Interment will follow in Law?s Chapel Cemetery, Atlanta, Texas at 2 p.m. under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She passed away Tuesday, June 12, in an Amarillo, Texas hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Shannon was born February 4, 1969 in Atlanta, Texas where she lived until moving to Longview in 1981. She was a 1987 graduate of Pine Tree High School and attended floral designing school at Texas A & M. She was a self employed floral designer. Lovingly referred to by her family as the ?Chief?, she was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport where she was involved in the Hospitality Ministry as well as decorations. She loved to entertain for her friends and family with elaborately hand decorated cakes. Her gift to the world was her gift of floral design and her loving generous spirit.
Shannon was preceded in death by father, Jerry Birchfield; grandfather, Jack Birchfield; and grandparents, Newman ?LC? and Myrtle Conner.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving mother, Mary Jo Birchfield of Lakeport; sister and brother-in-law, Kellie and Nick Garza of Austin, TX; brother, Glenn Conner of Lakeport; grandmother, Doris Birchfield; aunts and uncles, Martha and Charles Combs, Peggy and James Matthews, Sam Birchfield, Charles and Rita Birchfield, Norma and Claude King, Sally and David Lindsey, and David and Sherry Birchfield; her beloved family friends, William and Carolyn Rhyne; and several nieces nephews and cousins.
