Shane Midgley's Obituary
Shane Midgley was born on December 20, 1963 in Trinity, Texas and passed away on July 4, 2024 in Longview following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Toni; daughter and son-in-law, Shana and Cristopher Peterson; granddaughter, Ellie; parents, Alfred and Annette Midgley; brother and sister-in-law, Royce and Denese Midgley; mother- and father-in-law, Rita and Lloyd LaFleur; brother- and sister-in-law, Tim and Joy LaFleur; nephews, Paden Midgley and T.J. (Bianca) LaFleur; nieces, Jordan and Jolee LaFleur, Sadie (Paul) Bush, Katie Bush; best friends, Wayne Lowry and Mark Snyder; Pine Forest Baptist Church family; and his furbabies, Shelby and Lucy.
Shane graduated from Hallsville High School where he met his wife, Toni. They started dating in 10th grade and married on June 29, 1985. Their daughter, Shana, was born in 1992. He and Shana had a special relationship. He taught her to love cars, baseball, and 80’s rock music. His granddaughter, Ellie, was such a special blessing to him, and he was so excited about Ellie’s little sister coming in August.
Shane became a Christian on January 21, 2017 and was a deacon of Pine Forest Baptist Church. He was part of the church security team, and he took the responsibility for his church family’s safety very seriously.
Shane was a lifelong lover of old cars and trucks and could tell you the make and model of almost every car he saw. In the last few years, Shane also became interested in woodworking. He would spend more time planning what he wanted to build than he would actually building. He really enjoyed building things for other people.
Shane’s greatest love was for God and people. He loved serving his church as a deacon and self-appointed Sunday morning greeter. He gave the best hugs.
The family would like to thank the ICU and surgical floor nurses at Longview Regional Medical Center, and a special thank you to Dr. Ryan Pevey. It was very important to him that the doctors and nurses knew how much he appreciated them and their care.
Services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Hallsville, Texas. Visitation will be held before the service at 12:00. Memorials may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church Mission Fund. Pall bearers will be Paden Midgley, T.J. LaFleur, Cristopher Peterson, Dale Roberts, Phil Goodwin, Wayne Lowry, Mark Snyder, and Zack Patrick.
