Graveside services for Sarah Grace Phillips, 89, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Monday, June 9, 2003 at Memory Park Cemetery with Dr. Ray Tennpenny officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Phillips was born June 9, 1913 in Longview and was a lifetime resident of the Longview, Harrison County area. She was a very active lifetime member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. For years, she ministered to nursing home residents and their families. While she resided at the Clairmont nursing center, she was the ?Mail Lady? and delivered mail other residents, whom she knew all of their names. She was an avid gardener, and particularly enjoyed growing flowers. Her other interests? included antiques, quilting and various other crafts. Her husband, John L. Phillips, preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by her children, Dorothy Burke Gold and her husband Sonny of Longview, and John Truett Phillips and his wife Sandy of Hideaway Lake, Texas; sister, Opal Phillips of Longview; brother Terry Small of Lubbock; grandchildren, Scott Alan Burke, Matthew Jay Burke, Christy Clouse, and John Truett Phillips, Jr.; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
