Sara Ann Lucas' Obituary
Memorial services for Sara Ann Skaggs Lucas, 69, of Longview will be 12 Noon Friday February 26th at the First Christian Church with Drs. Richard Emerson, Jim Lewis and Rev. David Farmer officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Mrs. Lucas died Tuesday evening February 23, 2010 at her home.
She was born December 11, 1940 in Longview to Jack and Fredna Skaggs. Her father owned Skaggs Rubber Company. She was in the Longview graduating class of 1958 and then attended and graduated from Texas Christian University in 1962 where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Sara was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Longview. A longtime member and deacon of the First Christian Church, she had served on many committees and in different activities. She was a member of the GNG Sunday School Class and The Green Thumb Garden Club.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Richard; sons, Tosch Lucas of Houston, Todd Lucas and wife, Anne of Aledo, and daughter, Susan Stroud and husband, John of Frisco, TX. Five grandchildren, Tyler Anne Lucas, Miles Lucas, Grace Stroud, Sophie Stroud, and Lucas Stroud. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Curtis of Longview and neice, Elizabeth Campbell and husband, David, and great nephew Randy, sister-in-law, Carolyn Henderson of Dallas, and nieces, Linda Kramer and husband Jeff, and Lisa Kramer and husband Jeff.
Pallbearers will be Edward Jacobson, John Darby, John Hall, Jim Elam, Mike Holbert, Ned Smith, Jerry Lackey, Jack Strong, Lee Swain, Rod Hammer, Laughton Whitehead, and Jack Elder.
The family request donations be made to the building fund of the First Christian Church of Longview 720 N. 6th Street Longview, Texas 75601.
