Sandra Newport Fenner's Obituary
Sandra Newport Fenner, age 78, died peacefully on May 3, 2013. Sandra was born April 8, 1935, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Clara Belle and J. Herbert Newport, Sr. Sandra spent most of her life in Philadelphia, PA and she graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1953.
Sandra loved Antiquing, Quilting, Sewing, Gardening and the Symphony. Sandra traveled the United States collecting Madame Alexander Dolls and attending their yearly conventions. Sandra was also the past-president of Country Patches Quilt Guild. Sandra shared her husband's passion for classic cars where they were members of the Tyler Model A Ford Club, East Texas Vintage Auto Club, Early V8 Ford Club, Northeast Texas Cadillac Club and Houston Model T Club. Sandra was a member of Alpine Presbyterian Church in Longview, TX.
In 1966, Sandra married the love of her life Gordon A. Fenner, where they lived in Ridgebury, NY, and in 1974 they settled in Longview, TX. Together they started GAF Transport where she served as Treasurer.
Sandra is survived by her husband Gordon A. Fenner; step-daughter, Paula R. Fenner; Brother, J. Herbert Newport, III and wife Terri; Nieces and Nephews, three dogs and two cats.She is preceded in death by her son Mark Fenner and her sister, Ann Newport.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11am, Thursday, May 9 at Alpine Presbyterian Church in Longview, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to The Humane Society of Northeast Texas, Longview Symphony League or Longview Lions Club. Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
