Samuel Byron Lang's Obituary
Funeral services celebrating the life of Samuel Byron Lang will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m at Rader Funeral Home on Judson Rd., Longview, Tx with Masonic Burial immediately following at Hallsville City Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home.
Sam was born in Houston, TX on April 11, 1947 to Samuel Rather Lang and Ima Maurice Hensley Lang. He passed away June 5, 2017 in Marshall, TX. He was a resident of Hallsville, TX and a member of Trails End Cowboy Church where he played bass and sang with the praise band. He was a member of the James F. Taylor Masonic Lodge #169 where he served as Worshipful Master from 1998 – 1999. He was a member of the Scottish Rite. Sam served on the Houston Police Force as well as the U. S. Air Force Reserves. Sam enjoyed being a clown in multiple parades and rodeos as well as everyday life.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Martha Kay Choate Lang. He is also survived by his brother Rev. Frederick Thomas Lang and wife, Juanita; his son, Jason W. Lang & wife Tracie; daughter Rachel Lang Espinosa & husband Andrew; son Richard J. Autrey & wife Samantha; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
