Really sweet guy. One memory is one night it was closing time at the Pleasure Club on Hwy 31. Some jerk thatI had danced with thought I was going to leave with him and was giving me a hard time. Sammy saw what was happening and stepped in by putting his are around me and asking if I was ready to go.After the jerk left, I told Sammy thank you, we hugged andI thanked him.We both went on our way. I have thought about that kind act numerous times.
Sam, what can you say ... he cast a very long shadow. In knowing him for a mere 3 years, he made me a better man. Sam called me in the hospital 4 months ago the night before my knee surgery. Sam, I'll miss you brother (Jerry Stedman).

Sammy was a special friend to my brother Larry. Just knowing him in passing I had the greatest respect for him. Prayers to all.

Though we never had the honor of meeting Mr. Satterwhite personally, we feel as though we’ve known him all our lives.
My husband and I had just recently chose Satterwhite Log Homes to build our new house in Pennsylvania.
We’ve researched hours & hours of Mr. Satterwhites videos and so enjoyed his honesty and kind nature, that we knew almost instantly that he was the man for us.
Upon speaking just days ago to his son, concerning our decision to purchase our home from Mr. Satterwhite, both my husband and myself were devastated to hear of his passing. We truly felt we had lost a lifelong friend. Our hearts are broken.
Sounds strange, but so very true, as we both knew Sam had a beautiful heart just from his videos.
My prayer is that he knows now how much we respect him and will always regret not getting to meet him.
Yet, through my strong faith in God, I truly know Sam is smiling down on my husband and I, and knows us now as well. I am certain that we will meet him again in Paradise.

So fortunate God put Sam's shop where I ended up living. Got to know him in GA and and am blessed for the knowing and kinship.

One of my most memorable experiences was when I worked for Sam & Travonda back in the mid 80’s. A guy named Dave worked for one of the Satterhwite’s vendors, Southern Components in Shreveport. Sam found out from Dave’s co workers that Dave had been avoiding making sales calls to us because he had recently gotten a toupee and he was concerned about the teasing he might get from our crew. (I might add that his concerns were well founded.) When Dave finally made an appointment with Sam, Sam handed out wigs to ALL of us that had offices on the main hallway. Right before Dave arrived, Sam made the rounds instructing everyone with hallway offices to put on their wigs. At the time Sam came through with his instructions, I had a couple in my office discussing their log home so I didn’t feel it was appropriate to put on the wig, and therefore I didn’t. Naturally I thought Sam would be understanding of my predicament. A few minutes, later Sam made one final round before Dave arrived and poked his head in my office and sternly instructed me to “put on the dang wig or I would be fired”. The couple was an older man and lady and the man looked at me and with great concern for my livelihood said “I think you better put the wig on.” I did and continued my interview with them, looking like a complete idiot. I remember it like it was yesterday and I said “Now were you wanting wood or composition shingles?”
Dave arrived at the front desk and Sam came to the lobby to escort him back to his office. As they went down the hall Dave was just walking unsuspectingly and Sam said “Well Dave don’t be rude, say hello to Jay.” I tuned from my high back chair to meet Dave’s gaze and of course he was a good sport and cracked up laughing. As they continued down the hallway I could hear all the giggles all the way down the hall as Sam & Dave passed each office to see each on of the staff wearing a ridiculous wig, even Dennis Moon, who was naturally as bald as a cucumber. It was a great laugh and Sam said we did Dave a great favor by helping him get past his reservations and self consciousnesses. And this is just one of many crazy times we had. The Satterhwite family is special to the Knight’s.
