Sally Knight's Obituary
Sally Knight, 73, of Longview was a wonderful wife, mother and friend born September 17, 1938 in Longview to Mary Frances and William Edwin Andrews. Sally died May 18, 2012 in Longview at Good Shepard Hospital after a long illness.
Sally was a member of the Church at Lake Cherokee; she enjoyed playing cards with friends, and cooking at big family events.
Sally graduated from Longview High School in 1956. In 1967 she was president of Beta Sigma Phi. On April 15, 1976 Sally married Jim Knight in Longview, Texas.
In 1978 Sally opened "Sally's Good Food" and operated it for 32 years. Her pies and lunches were "stand in line" great. Sally's reputation exceeded Longview's city limits. Sally's great food was appreciated by people from all points in East Texas. Sally's was written up in newspapers and magazines as a place to get great food and desserts. People continued to beg Sally to reopen her restaurant two years after closing in December 21, 2009. Sally's smile, laugh and wonderful humor will be missed by all.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Clyde and Lillian Knight.
Those left to cherish her memory is her husband Jim Knight of 36 years; daughters, Leslie Hidreth Masters and her husband Bobby Masters, Mary Hildreth Irvin and her husband Tracy Irvin; grandchildren, Lauren, Michael Masters and Cameron Irvin; sister Sara Cheavens of Lufkin; brother, George Andrews and his wife Karen of Arlington and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Sally Knight will be on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at 12PM at The Church at Lake Cherokee at 11968 FM 2011 East with Pastors Mike Maxwell and Bill Smythe officiating.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Select Care in Longview, Highland Pines, and Good Shepard Hospital in Longview. The family would like to acknowledge Betty Hancock and Ernestine Mabe for their constant love and care for Sally.
