Sallie Campbell Esskew's Obituary
Sallie Campbell Esskew went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, June 11, 2007. Sallie was born in Many, Louisiana on June 28, 1929 to the late Vick and Margaret Parrie.
One of Sallie?s greatest joys in life was her family and it started when she married the late John Dillard Campbell. Together they had five daughters and one son. In addition to her family, another of Sallie?s passions was helping to make other women beautiful.
She had a career in cosmetology for over 36 years. She loved people, cooking , her flowers, classical and gospel music! She enjoyed cooking and having her family and friends around the table- talking about old times.
In 1997, she became the wife of J. D. ?Gus? Esskew and some of her most treasured moments were of her travels with her beloved husband in their Airstream RV to Colorado every summer.
Sallie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Longview and loved attending her Sunday School Class; The Talent Class.
A celebration of the life of Sallie Campbell Esskew, 78, of Longview, will be 2 PM Thursday, June 14, 20007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., with Reverend Dewayne Beaty and Monsignor
Paul Procella officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday evening, from 6-8 PM.
Mrs. Esskew was preceded in death by husbands, John Dillard Campbell, Ingram Thomas; grandson, Colby Anthony Campbell; great granddaughter, Tomi Marie Holt; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gus Esskew, of Longview; son, Michael Anthony Campbell and wife, Kathy, of Trinidad, Colorado; daughters, Brenda Sue Alexander and husband, David, of Longview, Lynn Crowley, and husband, Randy, of Longview, Eva Jean Holt and husband, Tim, of Marshall, Kathryn Ann Bradford, and husband, Don, of Longview, Gladys Elaine Cobb and husband, Mike, of Marshall.; stepdaughters, Eliska & Bill Gleeson of Longview, Sayree Gooch of Houston, Chanyce and Michael Wells of Longview; sister, Sadie Morse of Marshall; grandchildren, Todd, Le-Ann, Chris, Mark, Monique, Michelle, Stephanie, Mason, Lani, John, Jordan, Courtney, and Caney; eighteen great grandchildren; six step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Tim Tobin and Sallie?s nurses and HeartsWay Hospice of North East Texas for their comfort and care of our mother.
