Mrs. Talley was born October 20, 1900 in Holly, TX., to John and Ora Meadows, and had been a resident of Longview since 2000, when she moved to be near her son. She was a former long time resident of Plainview, Palestine, and Huntsville. She was a beautician for a number of years, and was a registered nurse. She also was a florist and an instructor in china painting. "Miss Sadie" loved life and lived it to it's fullest extent. She was a lover of the outdoors and nature. She was known as the "bird nurse", and for many years, people would bring her wounded and sick birds to nurse back to health. She loved to deer hunt, squirrel hunt, and once killed a bobcat with a deer rifle. When asked for advice, she would tell young people to honor God by going to church and Sunday school, try to be honest, and get a good education. She was preceded in death by her daughter Nonie Redin of Plainview; sisters, Bertie M. Stephens and Bessie Robertson both of Huntsville; and brothers, R. C. Meadows of Houston, and Woodrow Meadows of Huntsville. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, John H. Talley and his friend Diane Curlee of Longview; grandchildren, John K. Talley, Christy Hall, Kenny Redin, and Van Redin; and 7 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 2020 Bill Owens Parkway, Longview, TX. 75604.
