Ruth Evelyn West's Obituary
Ruth Evelyn West, 86, passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2019.
Ruth was born March 5, 1932, in Needles, California to Pearl and Joseph Gascon. She graduated from St. Patricks Catholic High School in Walla Walla, Washington and, after raising her children, went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
One of 14 children, she is survived by her sister, Evelyn Simas of Post Falls, Idaho. Ruth is also survived by six of her children, Nancy Luvaas, Don and Kim West, Linda West, Susan and Carl Hayworth, Lily West, and Sherri and Joe Kirchhoff.She was preceded in death by her son, Bob West. She always said her greatest accomplishment was: “I raised seven darn good kids”. She also had nine grandchildren, Heather, Charlynn, Rosalyn, Fantasy, Camelia, Carly, Cate, Rebecca and Luke; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. Mark Dunn. Interment for family only will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview.
