Ruth Helen Stagner's Obituary
Ruth Helen Stagner was born on November 28, 1933, and on Sunday, July 26, 2015, left her family and friends to meet her Savior and Lord face to face. Ruth was a graduate of Van High School and Tyler Junior College. On April 18, 1952 she married Leslie Hugh Stagner at First Baptist Church Van, Tx. Shortly after the wedding they moved to Longview, Texas where they have made their home since. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Ruth’s greatest joys in life were her family and friends. She loved and mentored many people through her ministry of prayer and encouragement. As a young woman, she loved to meet the practical needs of others and was always the first to step in with whatever was needed, rather it be a ride, a place to stay, or a meal to eat. She had a knack for making everyone feel important. She spent a great deal of time supporting her children and grandchildren at numerous sporting events. She was a Godly wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a servant’s heart that reflected her love for the Lord. In her later years, written cards and letters of encouragement were her greatest ministry to others.
She was a faithful member of New Beginnings Baptist Church since 1984.
Ruth also served as Volunteer Program District coordinator at Pine Tree ISD for 27 years.
She was truly the matriarch of the family and left a great legacy of love and compassion to all who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pascal and Maudie Warren and by her son, Dick Stagner. Survivors include: husband; Les Stagner; Sons Kevin Stagner and wife Kellye, Scott Stagner and wife Donna, daughter in law Vickie Stagner; sister, Ann Thompson and husband David. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
