Ruth Soard Kuykendall's Obituary
A celebration of life service for Ruth Soard Kuykendall, 89, of Tatum, Texas will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Eleven O'clock at the First Christian Church of Longview with Dr. Jim Lewis and Rev. David Farmer officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Hill Cemetery in Tatum. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Kuykendall passed away on Monday at Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Ruth was born on September 19, 1920 in Lily, Kentucky to Charles and Grace Soard. She was a teacher in the Longview area for 36 years and touched many lives. She was also a member of the First Christian Church of Longview.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, C.F. Kuykendall of Tatum; one daughter, Melinda Kuykendall; one granddaughter, Katie Ruth Kuykendall; nephews, Mark Pike, Gibbs Pike and Jack Lacy; great nieces, Jenny Corbitt and Michelle Parker; great nephews, Christopher Pike, Mathew Lacy, Stephen Lacy and Joseph Lacy.
The family request that memorials be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, Texas 75604, or to the First Christian Church, 720 Sixth Street, Longview, Texas 75601.
