Ruth Oretha Shelton's Obituary
Funeral services for Ruth Oretha Shelton, 79, of Longview, will be 2 PM Wednesday, July 29, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with Reverend Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Mrs. Shelton passed away at a local nursing center Sunday evening.
A native of Montgomery, Louisiana, she was born November 19, 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Von Shelton, father, William Matthew Thompson, mother, Mertie Jewel Drewett Thompson, sister, Edna Mae Pender, son, Jerry Avon Shelton, grandson, Jonathan "Bear" Shelton and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Shelton.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Don Shelton and wife Bobbie of Longview, Cecil Shelton and wife Kay of Longview, Tommy Shelton and wife Sherri of Kilgore, daughter, Betty Dodson and husband Johnny of White Oak, thirteen 13 grandchildren, sixteen 16 great grandchildren, sisters, Elaine Drew of Gladewater and Glenda Stewart of Union Grove and a brother, Bill Thompson of Mexico.
