RUTH BURGER NELSON
Ruth Burger Nelson was born September 1, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed away November 4, 2007 in Longview, Texas where she had resided since 1978. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nelson, Jr. and her brother and sister-in-law, Duane R. and Geneva Burger. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Nelson of Tallahassee, Florida and son, Jeffrey Nelson of Longview; grandchildren, Chloe and Jacob of Tallahassee and nephews; Steve, Stanley, Stuart, and Stacy Burger.
She graduated from Tulsa Central High School and attended the University of Tulsa. Ruth was a member of the Greggton United Methodist Church, homemaker, and was an executive secretary for Skelly Oil Co. She was a member of the Clear Lake City Garden Club, the Snyder Garden Club, the Iris Garden Club, and a former member of the Bromeliad Society of America. Ruth won many awards for flower displays and educational presentations on bromeliads. She was also a member of the Longview Federation of Womens? Club, and a life member of the American Spaniel Club. Ruth will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Memorial services will be 10 AM Thursday, November 8th at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jonathan Bynum officiating. Entombment of her urn will follow at Rosewood Mausoleum.
