Russell Ellis Burks' Obituary
Russell Burks, 54, passed away following complications after surgery at MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, TX on March 25, 2011. He was a 1974 graduate of Hallsville High School and graduate from Kilgore College in 1976. Russell was employed at Eastman Chemical Company for over 20 years. He resided in the Hallsville and Longview area all his life and enjoyed many years as a musician in local bands and church worship teams.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years Wendy Burks, daughter Nicole Burks, and sons Brinson Burks and Colton Morace, sister Theresa Sammons, brother-in-law David Sammons, nieces Charity and Mindy Sammons, and great niece Jaycee Sammons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laughton L.D. and Frankie Burks. Russell was a devoted husband, father, and friend and loved them all very much. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 – 8:00pm at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday March 29, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church, 4715 Tenneryville Rd, Longview, TX. Burial will follow in Kilgore City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Indicate on the memo line of the check: in memory of Russell Burks.
