Rufus Gilley's Obituary
Services for Rufus Gilley , 80, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 27th at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617 Judson Rd. with Dr. Tim Watson and Rev. Dewayne Beaty officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Park Cemetery. Mr. Gilley went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning.
He was born May 18, 1925 at Owlet Green in Van Zandt County, Texas were he was reared and received his education to Bob and Ollie Easley Gilley. A resident of Longview since 1945, Mr. Gilley was a retired installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Longview and the Southwestern Bell Pioneers. He never met a stranger and was a people person. Mr. Gilley is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Glynda and Keith Cooper of Longview; grandsons, Nick Cooper and Phillip Cooper; numerous brothers and sisters and special loved-one, Shirley Gilley.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Friday evening 6 to 8 PM.
