Rudolph Greer's Obituary
Services for Rudolph ?Papaw Buddy? Greer, 75, will be 2 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Reverends John Mooney, Leon Veazey and L.C. Webster officiating. A Masonic Burial Rite will follow in Cain Cemetery. Services are under the Direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Greer, a lifelong resident of Hallsville, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. The Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, April 17, 2006 at the funeral home.
Rudolph was born on March 22, 1931 in Hallsville, Texas to G. Dyess and Addie Greer. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He retired from Texas Eastman after 35 years. Mr. Greer was an Endowed Lifetime member of the James F. Taylor Masonic Lodge, and the Waco Scottish Rite where he was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also involved with the Shriners and the Elks Lodge. Pallbearers for the service will be Masonic brothers from the James F. Taylor Lodge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Arlene Greer; 3 sons and their spouses, Richard and Betty Greer, Dubby and Judy Greer, and Randy and Holly Greer, all of Longview; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; Twin sister, Ruthdale Sandlin of Mesquite, Texas; and 3 brothers, Robert Greer and Finis Greer of Longview, and Gene McLenney of Hallsville.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Greater Hospice of Texas, and sitters Robert Key, Rob Key, Lance Key, Dewey Greer, and Gaylon Greer.
