Ruby Williams
Graveside services for Ruby Williams, 86, of Tatum, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 in the Tatum Cemetery with the Reverend David Reeder officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Williams passed away August 25, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Ruby was born December 15, 1922, to Rube and Mattie Wimberley in Palo Pinto County, Texas. She and her family moved to Austin where she met and married Nowlan Williams of Tatum. After 30 years as a military wife, Ruby went to work for the Federal Bureau of Land Management. She retired in 1989.
Proceeding her in death are her husband of 50 years, Nowlan Williams; her parents; her brother, Lindy Wimberley; and great grandson, Jacob George.
Ruby is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Cheryl and Don Sims of Laramie, WY and Kaye and Tommy Oden of Tatum; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Loretta Williams of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Chance and Casey George of Douglas, WY, Shane and Wesley Oden of Houston, Marc Williams of Lubbock, and Melissa Smith of San Antonio, along with six great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Gale Rothlisberger of Corpus Christi and Mary Wimberley and Evelyn Fleet of Las Vegas, NV; and brother, Gene Wimberley of Los Angeles, CA.
The family wishes to express our sincerest gratitude and thanks to Kay Keller and the entire staff of the Songbird Assisted Living facility in Longview for all of the love and compassion you have given our mother. Also, our thanks to out to Gene Albright and the wonderful workers of Texas Home Health Hospice of Longview.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
