Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Page, age 96 of Henderson will be held Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 3:00pm in the Fairview Cemetery in Marshall. Burial will follow under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson. Mrs Read Obituary
I spent a lot of time, as a child, at the Page home - Phyllis, Patti & I played together almost daily throughout our years together at William B. Travis. Mrs. Page was a wonderful teacher, and loving mother and all of us who knew her in those roles were enriched by her presence in our lives. My deepest sympathy goes out to her granddaughter, family and friends.

Dear Sarah,
I just received Ms Ruby's address from a friend in Marshall a few days ago, and on Saturday wrote her a letter telling her what a positive influence she was on my life.
On Monday, I got a really nice card with a beautiful Crimson Rosella on the front and a $2.10 airmail stamp today to send it.
Didn't make it to the post office today, and here it is sitting on my desk.
Today I was so saddened my the news of her passing. Sarah, your grandmother was such a wonderful woman. Your mother, Patti, a friend since grade 3 at Wm B Travis.
I will send the card and letter tomorrow, knowing you will get it not Ms Ruby.
I am so sad at your loss, but so happy I knew these two wonderful women.

Hands down, my favorite and most influential teacher in 20+ years of education. She taught me the true meaning of "There is no free lunch!" To this day, I cannot think of Nicaragua without seeing her doing a solo conga through the classroom singing along to her well-used recording of "Managua Nicaragua is a beautiful town . . ." And I can't turn on Milam Avenue in downtown Houston without hearing Mrs. Page shouting to her seventh grade Texas history class, "Who will go with old Ben Milam into San Antonio?" as she made Texas' battle for independence come alive for us.

I didn't actually know Ruby Lee, but I knew Patti.....we were classmates and shortly before Patti's death we were in contact a great deal.
