Ruby Nell Potts Howell was born April 9, 1930 to Grady Lee and Zenobia Allen Potts in Denison, Texas. She peacefully passed away May 15, 2015 at Whispering Pines Lodge in Longview, Texas.
Mrs. Howell met the love of her life James L. “Guy” Howell in her hometown while he was stationed in nearby Perrin Air Force Base. They were married November 1, 1953 and had their daughter, Rebecca. They relocated to James’s Hometown of Houston, Texas where she worked many years as a dental assistant. In 1973 the family relocated to Longview, Texas where Mrs. Howell worked and retired from Sears. She then went on to work in food service at Hallsville ISD where she took great joy in watching her grandsons and great-grandson grow into young men. She and her family were charter members of Holy Trinity Congregational Church now known as Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Longview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Potts and David Potts both of Denison and her husband James L. Howell Jr.
She is survived by her siblings Mary Bailey, Wanda Ramey and Sara Delgado; sister-in-law, Maurine Potts; daughter and son-in-law Rebecca Ann Williams and Barry Williams of Longview; grandsons, James Lee Howell, Jason Williams and Jared Williams; 4 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brair, Annah Grace and Gus; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, at Rader Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to EPCL Children’s Ministry in memory of Ruby Howell because children brought her such great joy.
The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Whispering Pines Lodge Nursing Home and Texas Home Health Hospice for their care and compassion for our Memaw
