Ruby Freyer Hudson's Obituary
Ruby Fryer Hudson, a good and faithful servant of the Lord, was called into eternal life on Monday, February 21, 2011.
The only child of Fred W. Freyer and Ella Pieper Freyer, she was born in Crawford, Texas, on April 18, 1926. She was baptized into God's Kingdom in May 1926. She attended Prairie Chapel Schools and then graduated from Crawford High School. From there, she endeavored to attain her Bachelor's and Master's degree in physical education from East Texas State Teachers College. She moved to East Texas to begin her first teaching job at Gaston High School in Joinerville, Texas, where she taught girl's physical education and coached the tennis team. While at Gaston, she met the love of her life, Glenn D. Hudson. They married on June 16, 1951, in McGregor, Texas. They made their first home in Joinerville. She taught for a brief time at Panola Junior College in Carthage, Texas. She then became the girl's physical education teacher at Kilgore High School where she remained for 22 years. Through her dedication to learning she touched the lives of countless students and always inspired them to excel in learning and in life.
She dedicated her life to her faith, her family, and her friends. Glenn preceded her in death in 1983.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Larry D. Hudson and Patricia L. Hudson of Spring, Texas. She has numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law, and a host of friends and her "church family" at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Longview, Texas; she loved you all dearly. In addition, the special friendship of Joan and Harold Wageman was a blessing for 50 years.
The family wishes to extend our endless gratitude to Rhonda Stephens for her kindness, her care, and her love. She was Aunt Ruby's Angel. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the management and staff at the Willows of Kilgore. You made a home for "Miss Ruby" and treated her like one of your own family. Thank you to Ms. Flora Edmiston for your love and friendship. You were the best roommate ever.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1300 Judson Rd in Longview with Reverend Dennis Bragdon officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
