Ruby Faye Francis' Obituary
Dec 20, 2016, Ruby Faye Gearner Green Francis received a wonderful Christmas present. Ruby left this world behind for a much better place.
Ruby's life started over 101 years ago on November 10, 1915 in Winnsboro, TX. Her parents, William Willard Gearner and Dovie Jane Bellamy Gearner along with 4 brothers, welcomed her into their world. Upon receiving news of her birth, her Uncle Benny who was in WWI and stationed across seas, wrote back and said "you now have a piano player for your quartet". A 5th brother was added to the family later and was cherished by his big sister.
Ruby had a long and not always easy life but she knew how to laugh and show love and kindness to so many people. She was well known for her beautiful, warm smile and would end many conversations with "God bless you". Ruby was not only a child, a teenager, a hard worker picking cotton on their family farm, a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother but she was also a school teacher, a great cook, one who was always picking someone up for church, one who visited people in nursing homes in her 70s and who in her mid 80s opened a resale shop she named "The Turnabout". She also
crocheted beautiful items...whatever her hands could find to do, she tried. Ruby was kind and a great hostess who loved and enjoyed her family Ruby loved her church Calvary Tabernacle that she had been a part of for over 55 years.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Usher Francis, parents, 5 brothers and their wives (Verbal and Cora Gearner, Aubry and Lily Gearner, Clyde and Audry Gearner, Elmer and Marie Gearner, Truman and Mickey Gearner), 2 nephews and others. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son and wife, Bob and Nancy Green, her daughters, Glenda Slocum and Fonda Jones, 9 grandchildren and spouses (Rod and Jeri Butler, Nathan Green, John and Christy Struble, David and Serena Slocum, Rodney and Stacey Shaw, Jeff and Kayla Slocum, Tony and Misty Foster, Jonathan and Tracey English, Chase and Jenifer Holloway), 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to her Pastor and wife, Rev. Charles and Valinda Chargois (she called Rev. Charles her "#1 Pastor" and held him in high regard); Billie Strickland and the 70+ group at Calvary; Carla Jones who loved and helped Ruby daily for over a year; Angela Arden and staff at Page Place II; Premier Home Care; her primary caregiver, Mary, and other staff from Texas Home Health; Hearts Way and especially the Lord, Jesus Christ whom she loved and served for over 65 years.
