Ruby Bishop's Obituary
Ruby Bishop, a remarkable mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 29, 2014. A memorial service will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview at 10am on Saturday, July 5, 2014.
Ruby was born to Anton and Josephine Lorenz in Guadalupe County on August 21, 1928. After graduating from high school she married her dashing Navy sailor, Hubert (Red) Bishop in 1945. Their lively marriage endured until Red's passing in 2003. Ruby was an amazing homemaker, excelling at cooking, sewing, crafting, and ceramics. She was especially known for her 'Gee Beans'. She loved nature and had a gift for tending plants. Nothing was more important to Ruby than her children, Keith and Dianne, and she supported them both in every way she could. She was also close to her beloved sister Lillie Nolen.
After Red died, Ruby travelled some and loved spending time with Mr. Cashman at the casino.
Special thanks to Ruby's dear granddaughters, Emily and Ramie, who both moved to Longview to help care for Gee in her final months. The three of them shared many memories and much love and laughter during this time.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to LaTonya and Michelle of Texas Home Hospice for their loving patience and care.
Survivors include her son Keith Bishop and wife Kerry; daughter Dianne Smith; granddaughters Emily Smith and Ramie Bishop; several nieces and nephews; Ramie's mother Marilyn Bishop; and many others who loved her dearly.
