Royce Glen Nelson
Royce Glen Nelson 1924-2017. Royce Glen Nelson, 92, known as “Pop” by his family, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2017. Born in Timpson, Texas, Royce joined and proudly served in the United States Army in 1945. As Sargent of the Company B 803rd Tank Battalion Destroyer Unit, he served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe during WWII. He received the EAME Campaign medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and was awarded 5 Bronze Stars during his services.
Royce “Pop” is survived by his lovely wife of 68 years, Nanci Nelson; Children: Ronald Nelson, Linda “Missie” Stein, Royce “Buddy” Nelson and John Nelson; Grandchildren: Robert Nelson, Katie Stein, Michael Nelson, Kimberly Stein, Brian Nelson, Jeffrey Nelson and Savannah Nelson; Great-Grandchildren: Alyssa Nelson, Gage Nelson, Colin Nelson, Kenzie Nelson and Luke Nelson. We will miss you Pop, but we will never forget all the great memories and things you have taught and instilled in our lives. We know the Lord called one of his best soldiers home to a higher calling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Galen Herrington officiating. Family visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service .
