Roy W. Wood
Funeral services for Roy W. Wood, 80, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2006, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Brother Ottis Jarrell officiating. Interment will be in Memory Park Cemetery. He passed away Friday, December 15 in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wood was born June 4, 1926 in Big Springs, Texas to William and Ellen Wood. He had been a resident of Longview most of his life. He was retired from Machinery Supply Co. in Longview and formerly was the General Manager of the Longleaf Lumber Co.
Mr. Wood was a loving and devoted husband of 42 years to his wife Alice, who preceded him in death November 30, and was the ultimate ?PaPaw? to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed numerous outdoor activities and also was an accomplished woodworker. He attended Pine Forest Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Hazel Jensen.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Franks of Hallsville, Lynda and James Shelton of Longview, Teresa and Eric Christensen of Gilmer, Alison and Michael Hill and Kay and Von Schattel all of Hallsville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Shon Wood of Lewisville, Texas and David and Cindy Gordy of Longview; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Eva Longview of Naples, Fl., Jeanette Fielder, Lucille Hancock and Mary Jane Mowery all of Hallsville, and Reba Harbour of Spring, Texas; and his special little canine pal, Taco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
