Roy Mitchell Tate
Longview resident, Roy Mitchell Tate, 79, died at his home May 9, 2006 after losing a courageous battle with Cancer. Born July 2, 1926 in DeLeon, Texas, Mr. Tate was a decorated World War II, U. S. Nave veteran. He spent his 35 year career in law enforcement with the Ft. Worth and Henderson police departments. He retired with the FWPD as captain and received numerous awards including being named Fort Worth?s ?Officer of the Year.? He came out of retirement to serve another 5 years in East Texas with the Henderson Police Department in their detective division.
Survivors include, his wife of 44 years, Judith Ann Tate, his sons, Robert Edward Boaz and Richard Michael Boaz, his sister-in-law, Karen Gail Scarberry, her daughter, Katherine Ann Rudd and grandson Richard Michael Boaz, Jr. and great granddaughter, Madison Renee Boaz and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tate was preceded in death by two sisters, June Davis of Longview and Betty Manning of DeLeon, TX.;
Mr. Tate?s special friends include Bill and Diane Reinart, Renee Cunningham, Melba Butler, Evelyn Sledge and care giver Barbara Johnston, Tommy Modisette and a host of others to numerous to list. Heartsway Hospice provided extraordinary care and understanding.

Memorial services will be held at Three O?clock pm Thursday May 11, 2006 at Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Arnold Shrewsbury officiating.
