Roy Martin Hill's Obituary
Memorial services and visitation for Roy Martin Hill will be held at Rader Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 4PM with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek officiating. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Hill was born August 1, 1931 in West, Texas to Roy Noah and Rhoda Witt Hill. Roy grew up on a farm in the Waco area. As friends have heard him say ?at 17, I was tired of milking cows?, so he joined the Navy to see the world; and see the world he did! He served in many countries. Mr. Hill was proud of his 24 years of service to his country. His last assignment brought his to Longview as Navy Recruiter. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he thought East Texas a place to retire. C.P.O. Hill retired and worked as Sales Manager for Skeeter Boat Co., then went on to real estate sales at Lake Cherokee. As friends know he discovered golf. His death came after battling cancer for 4 years. As he would say ?keep your head down, eye on the ball, and see you at number 10.
Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his parents, his bother Marshal Hill, his sister Dorothy Hill Barnett, His son Roy Martin Hill, Jr.. He is survived by his wife Bettye House Hill, four daughters: Elaine and husband Bill Powell of Bayfield, Colo, Laura and husband Davy Doxey of Cameron, LA., Lee Atzert of Atlanta, GA., Linda Marie Hill and husband Robert Fuqua of Decatur, TX, four stepchildren, Al-len Eastburn, Mary Eastburn White and husband Don, Susan Eastburn Cook and husband Randy, all of Longview, and Nancy Eastburn Flanagan and husband Clay of Tyler; eight grandchildren and seven step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister: Christine Barnes of Monahan, TX., nephew: Neely Crist of Waco, TX and nieces, Karen Smith of San Angelo and Beth Phillips of Enid, OK; sister in law: Mrs. T. J. McEuen of San Antonio and niece Sarah Sommerville and nephews John and Daryl Sommerville of San Antonio, TX.
